With a startup rate of 440 per 100,000 adults, California is the third most entrepreneurial state according to CNNMoney. Despite California’s lingering budget woes, high unemployment and burdensome taxes and regulations, it seems as if the entrepreneurial spirit is very much alive here, only beaten out by Arizona and Texas.
CNN writes, “The Golden State has a history of embracing entrepreneurs that has no sign of letting up. Silicon Valley continues to be the launch pad for innovative web, biotech and geeky statups galore.” Adding to that is the fact that California has a large population of immigrants and long-term unemployed, and creating small business has become a necessity to make a living.
PCV applauds the entrepreneurial spirit that we see in our advised companies every day. Thanks to all of you, we’re creating a dynamic and robust small business community, and creating jobs along the way!
