Below is a truly heartfet letter from PCV-Advised company Discount Glass & Mirror to Chuck Sinks, PCV Regional Director of Business Advising in our San Diego office. Thank you for such kind words, Discount Glass & Mirror team, and we are so happy that your PCV Business Advising experience was a positive and productive one.
Dear Chuck,
What do you say to someone that has reached out their hand to pick you up out of a dark hole where most have politely (and sometimes not) turned their back on you?
I am so privileged to have been introduced to Bill Parker and Tristan Kampman who really did not know what they were getting into when they selflessly and without any issues accepted the challenges that faced my company with such professionalism and military precision that absolutely floored me.
The lessons learned have been too numerous to mention, but basically I had to look at myself in the mirror *excuse the pun* and accept responsibility and make a commitment to these gentlemen that I would be prepared to change the way I operate my business. They taught me to be on my business and not in it. I have learned that I don’t need to take out the trash make sure the light bulbs or toilet rolls are replaced, and give that responsibility to someone else.
One of the biggest changes they made was to have a budget and cash flow projections and honestly we initially battled with the idea which was mainly due to our not understanding the importance of why it was so critical to our change. It is a work in progress and we have a budget we have cash flow projections and it is incredible to look at my business and know for sure that I don’t have the money to purchase that new truck or take on a big contract, but I do know that I can move forward with more confidence and know for sure what I need to do to take my company to new heights.
I am learning to execute and delegate with clear directions and ensure that my employees are accountable for their jobs and understand without ambiguity what is expected from them. It has created a healthier work environment for all of us.
I hope in the not too distant future I will be able to share my experiences and business knowledge with someone who might possibly need it.
Once again thank you not just from me but from all of us at Discount Glass & Mirror.
Kind regards,
Anthony Bortz
