The Role of Public Sector Leadership in Enabling Social Innovation
You are invited to join the first virtual convening of the Global Learning Exchange on Social Impact Investing, an initiative led by the World Economic Forum and the Impact Investing Policy Collaborative (IIPC) and established last June as an outcome of the G8 Social Impact Investment Forum.
The first GLE virtual meeting, the Role of Public Sector Leadership in Enabling Social Innovation, will be a webinar held on Thursday January 16, 2014 at 8:00 GMT (9:00 CET, 13:00 IST, 16:00 CST, 19:00 AEDT). We realize that this time slot is not ideal for participants joining us in North America, but in keeping with its global objectives, the GLE seeks to broaden the conversation beyond the G8 countries – to include the G20 countries and beyond. The public webinars each month will focus on a different region – in terms of thematic focus and scheduling – to facilitate a truly global dialogue on social impact investing. So if you’re unable to join this one, there will be one soon that is better suited to the North American time zones!
This 90 minute webinar will explore questions such as:
- What lessons can impact investment and social innovation practitioners draw from economic innovation and entrepreneurship policies?
- How are these lessons applied across global markets?
- What have been the specific experiences of governments and public enterprises in Asian markets?
The GLE Webinar Series is designed as a series of global conversations of local relevance in social impact investing. We will be inviting questions via social media and email leading up to and through the duration of the webinar.
Speakers include:
- Karen Wilson, Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD);
- Mairi Mackay, British Council East Asia;
- Rosemary Addis, Impact Investing Australia and GLE Director; and
- David Wood, Initiative for Responsible Investment, Harvard University, and IIPC
Please register here by Friday, January 10 and see the attached flyer for details. We look forward to your participation and sharing perspectives through this exciting platform.
About the GLE
The Global Learning Exchange (GLE) was launched formally in December 2013 following its announcement at the G8 Impact Investing Forum earlier this year. It is convened by the World Economic Forum (WEF), UK Cabinet Office and Impact Investing Policy Collaborative (IIPC). The GLE complements the work of the Social Impact Investment Taskforce to develop social investment as an important innovation for public good. Impact Investing Australia is pleased to be associated with this global initiative.
