The holidays are right around the corner – can you believe it? As you start to think about what gifts to get your loved ones, we want to share a suggestion. Shop small.
Shopping at small businesses in your community can have a big impact. Small businesses are the building blocks that make up the identity of your neighborhood, and strong small businesses mean a strong local economy. By spending your holiday dollars at these businesses instead of at larger corporate retailers, you put money back into your own community and empower your your neighborhood entrepreneurs to grow and expand, which leads to increased job creation right in your own community!
There are plenty of opportunities to shop small this holiday season. One is to participate in Small Business Saturday on November 30th. The Friday after Thanksgiving is one of the biggest shopping holidays of the year, often called Black Friday, and retailers notoriously slash prices to promote sales. This isn’t always an option for smaller businesses, and so Small Business Saturday was born. You can stimulate your local economy on November 30th by shopping at the stores right in your neighborhood – don’t forget to use the hashtag #ShopSmall and share what you bought from businesses in your neighborhood! The gifts you’ll in local small businesses are often more unique and one-of-a-kind, which make them all the more special to your family and friends.
