As you may remember from this blog, Sir Ronald Cohen is the Chairman of Big Society Capital and has been lauded as the “father of British venture capital”. He is also the leader of the Social Impact Investment Taskforce, which was announced at the G8 Social Impact Investment Forum that we attended last June.
The Taskforce’s goal is to “catalyze the development of the social impact investing market”, and meets on an ongoing basis in Washington DC. Earlier this month, PCV’s Director of InSight Ben Thornley was asked by Jonathan Greenblatt, the White House’s Director of the Office of Social Innovation, to speak as the US expert on impact investing at the meeting, which took place at the White House. What an honor!
In his latest blog on the Huffington Post, Sir Ronald Cohen aptly describes the outcomes of this first meeting, and shares what’s next for the Taskforce. He stresses that the question is no longer “if” the impact investing economy with take off, it’s “how” it will take off. In his blog, Cohen also welcomes input from his readers and asks them to contact the Secretariat to the Taskforce at the UK Cabinet Office. Check out the full blog here and be sure to keep your eyes peeled for a shoutout to PCV!
