In 2014, Pacific Community Ventures created the first-ever “roadmap for impact investing” for the G8 Taskforce on Social Impact Investment. At the same time, we published a seminal report on Impact Investing global policy. In the present day the impact investing industry has been solidly established at a global level, with hundreds of billions — en route to trillions — of dollars under management. Back in 2014, though, we were still working to put in place the policy changes and frameworks to allow investors of all kinds of asset classes to put their dollars to work creating social and environmental good.
The report includes a compilation of articles and case studies focused on issue-areas relevant to impact investing, including: conceptual pieces on the development and mapping of the policy system for impact investing; examples of specific public policy that have supported market development in different countries; and insights from private firms into how impact investing intersects with other key market areas, such as international development and infrastructure investment.
